A PC headset is is almost necessary and it is certainly important in an office environment. Many corporations demand that there employees take online classes to improve their communication, learn about company standards, etc. These headsets work with nearly any computer that allows for connectivity for a USB port.

Computer headsets normally perform the following functions:

  • Internet telephony - If your computer has the necessary software and hardware, you can use the internet instead of the traditional telephone communication networks to place calls to other computer systems programmed to perform the same function.
  • Internet chat – Some computer head sets allow for direct communication with other individuals on the internet.
  • Speech recognition – Various computer programs are operated via voice commands. Head sets for pc′s can be used to convey such commands.

  • Gaming – Some pc headsets allow for interaction with games run on your computer.

USB port

The computer headphone connects to your pc in one of two ways. USB headsets connect via a USB port. One cable controls both the microphone on the head set and the speakers. This type of connection is required for computers that do not have a sound card. However, USB headsets can be used on pc′s that do have a sound card. Such headphones generally produce very clear sound because they "bypass" the noise created by your pc′s sound card.

Audio card

The second type of connection for your computer′s headphones is via an analog port. Two cords are needed to control the microphone and speakers individually. The size of the analog′s headset cable port connection can vary, although most use a 2.5mm port. This type of headset is used in conjunction with the pc′s audio card, thereby producing a less-crisp sound quality.

What do you need?
