A Communication Headset – Common for Business

A communication headset is a standard part of the uniform for employees in many companies.

Anyone who needs to be on the telephone with customers needs to wear this type of headset so that he/she can hear what the other person is saying.

This type of headset blocks out the sounds of other people that are talking in the same room.

This enables the wearer to give his/her undivided attention to the customer.

Noise Reducing Communication

All pilots wear aviation headsets so that the noise from the plane′s engine does not interfere with their ability to hear directions from the air traffic control tower through the headset.

The pilot and co-pilot can also have communication with each other and still be able to perform their duties. These are called noise reducing communication headsets because they eliminate all the background noises that may cause problems for pilots.

Active and Passive

There are two types of communications headsets. There are active noise reducing headsets and passive noise reducing headsets. The difference between them is

• Active noise reducing headsets only cut down on the background noise. They do not eliminate it all together and the person wearing the headset can still hear some of what is going on. An example of where you would use this headset is in a busy airport when you want to cut down the noise level enough to be able to concentrate on reading, yet you still want to hear the information regarding your flight.
• Passive noise reducing headsets block out all the other noises. These headsets are used by pilots to help them hear the instructions from the tower and to be able to have conversations through the headsets. When two people ride on the same motorcycle, using this type of headset lets them have a conversation as they ride along. They act just like a two-way radio system for communication.
