Amplified Headphones For the Hard of Hearing
Amplified headphones are often listening devices that help those with mild or moderate hearing loss to be able to listen to music or the television without having to strain to hear. Using a headset or earphones plugged into the stereo of the television will help to amplify the sound to an acceptable level. A special amp for those who are hard of hearing has a three-band equalizer that automatically makes the necessary frequency adjustments.
Twofold BenefitThe benefit of using headphone amps is twofold. The person using the headset to amplify the sound can hear better and those around him/her will not have to complain because the noise is too loud. A headset with volume control allows you to adjust the sound level to suit you without interfering with anyone else. When using this headset for watching TV, you do need a television set that has the necessary output. If someone else is watching a program with you, you either need two headsets or neither one at all. When an amp is plugged into the television, it disables the sound feature of the appliance.
Wireless headphones, a better alternative.Wireless headphones are a better alternative because they do not need to be plugged into a headphone jack. They can be used with any audio outlet and most of these headphones are compatible with hearing aids. If you use them for a long period of time, however, you may find that they become uncomfortable on your ears or head. There is also some concern about teenagers and children who use such headphones to listen to music. They have the music blasting so loud, that others around them can still hear it. Music played very loudly through headphones can result in hearing loss and damage to the eardrum. The amp in the headphone should be used in moderation.
